The first 15 lbs were kind of fun, weren’t they? Midnight cravings for conspiratorial ice cream. You gained 15 lbs too. We were in it together. But this is now. Unfathomably, you peacefully snore as I lay awake… gaining. Gaining burdens, curse words, and lbs. I become righteously unhinged as I bargain for all the things I want back… my dead dog… my thinner body… my fucking eyebrows! There is a reckoning in the midnight hour – a new estimation of myself. I don’t know this new “me” yet, but I’m determined to love her.
